IF - surrender

When I read this weeks topic first what came to my mind where images of surrendering armies and war. But apart from this being too obvious an association (for me) I didn't want to illustrate such a sad theme.

So I began to search for matters where I surrender. And here's what I surrender to: chocolate - of any variety. For me there's no alcohol, no cigarettes plus I am vegetarian, but  if it comes to chocolate I surrender to that temptation.

While drawing I was listening to the radio and in the news they very conveniently refered to the confectionary fair in Cologne that has just opened today. And guess what they said? Every single German eats 305 kg of sweets every year and - the industrie is not satisfied with its sales volumes. Can you believe that?

Here comes the second Part of my Valentine's Card Project: the blossom that's just opened.

Postcard for Valentine's Day - Part 1

For this years Valentine's Day I am preparing a postcard that will show a rose in its different stages of growth:
- as a bud
- the blossom just open
- the thorny stem
- in full bloom

They shall display the different stages of love: just in love, only just together, just quarreling, to be deeply bonded. Then there will be some kind of indicator to show what stage you're in and to declare your love for the recipient of this postcard.
Here I'm showing you the first part, i.e. the bud. I will show you all the other parts as soon as they will be finished. And of course the finished postcard.

IF - dusty

As I have already mentioned in my previous post for this topic, this time it gave me so much inspiration that I could hardly decide which idea to realize. Well here is my second post because I simply couldn't get this image out of my head of a dusty robot with his left (red) eye dangling from the socket, standing in some forgotten corner of the attic.

Reading this weeks topic 'dusty' so many different pictures came to my mind that at first I didn't know which option to draw. I finally decided for a completely dusty car that needed an urgent clean the message of which someone wrote into the dust.

IF - topic of the week: chicken

When I read this weeks topic I remembered the chicken my grandfather had when I was a child. What fascinated me most was the rooster with his iridescent feathers, the colours ranging from green to black. Whenever I visited my grandpa I had to go to the chicken house to admire the rooster. When my primary school teacher left at the end of the second year, I even made one of plasticine and gave it to her as a farewell present.

Having worked as an architectural drafter for several years I am of course acquainted with the works of Frank Lloyd Wright. His most famous private building (and the one I like best - apart from the Guggenheim Museum, N.Y.) being  'Falling Water' I combined the two: the chicken actually live in a chicken house resembling it.

Also I wanted the house to look like an architectural drawing and contrasting the realism of the chicken.
